Gary Leeman Goes Down In Victory

The Winnipeg Jets played host to one of the Norris Division top teams Saturday night when they took on the Detroit Red Wings.  The Jets came out flying with a pair of goals in the first period and added another two in the second period to head into the third period up 4-0, despite hammering 14 shots in the third John Vanbiesbrouck stood on his head and gave the Wings a shot to come back, which they scored a pair but the game concluded 4-2 in favour of the Jets.

All wasn't good for Winnipeg as veteran Gary Leeman went down late in the third period with a believed concussion and the team is electing to keep him out of practice for a few days.  Coach Bobby Orr said it was more precaution and hopes to have Leeman back in a couple days as the club will have two days off before taking on the Chicago Blackhawks.

It is expected that Karl Friesen will get the start against the Cardboard Blackhawks.  This will be the second of four games against the rebuilding Hawks this season with Winnipeg taking the victory in the first contest led by a pair of goals by Nikolai Borshevsky.
