After a tough 4-1 loss to Toronto, the 3rd time losing to the Leafs already this season, Tampa needed to recoup quickly as they were in tough against the conference leading Hartford Whalers.

After a series of trades over the weekend, Lightning coach Jacques Martin found himself shuffling his lines once again, moving the Broten brothers up from the 4th line to 2nd line and slotting in Ryan Walter on the 4th line. The Brotens were once again instrumental in Tampa’s 4-1 over the Whalers, with Aaron Broten scoring his 3rd and 4th goals, while brother Paul added his 7th of the season. Recently acquired Ron Tugnutt, who boasted the team’s first shutout in his first game as a Bolt against Minnesota, turned away 33 of Hartford’s 34 shots, earning 1st star of the game once again.

Tampa, once again, will look to play dragon slayer as they face the 12-1 Winnipeg Jets. Coach Martin will roll with his hot hand in Ron Tugnutt, earning his 4th straight start for Tampa. No new lineup changes are expected for the Bolts, who look for their 7th win in 15 games while climbing up the conference leader board.
