Four Way

The San Jose Sharks were part of a 4way trade that took place in the NFHL last night.  A bunch of moving pieces but in the end San Jose got the netminder they have been wanting.

Grant Fuhr hasn’t really impressed in the starting goalie role and it has been no secret GM Al Harrison was on the lookout for a capable replacement and had had more than a few conversations with trader Shane.

“He came to me,” Harrison responded when asked how the four team trade went down.  “Shane did all the leg work on this deal.  I just accepted on my end.”

In the end, the Sharks traded goaltender Grant Fuhr and winger Martin Gelinas along with 2 2nd rounders for Craig Simpson and Mike Moffatt.  A move that increases their goalie but weakens their wing position.

“No secret here,” the GM added.  “In order to win, you need great goaltending and we felt that Mike just gives us a little bit more than Grant could.”

One must wonder why the team would make a goalie move now when a center is what they need?

“We meant to send a request in to the league to get Derrick Smith switched to center after the trade but I brain farted.  Again.”

And so the Sharks might be on the lookout for one more deal.
