Toronto finds themselves in an
unenviable hole after losing Game #2 to the Colorado
Rockies in the NFHL Finals today. It will be a hard
pill to swallow as the Leafs were poised to even the
series and take home ice advantage back with them
across the border. Bob Probert's 1st of the post
season gave Toronto a 5-4 lead midway through the
3rd period and it stood until the Leafs got into
some penalty trouble in the dying minutes. Brent
Severyn and Doug Gilmour took minor penalties 26
seconds apart with under 5 minutes to play and the
Rockies made them pay. Steve Yzerman tied the
game at 16:11 and then Mathieu Schneider put the
stake through the heart, scoring a second power play
goal with 3 minutes left to make it 6-5 and give
Colorado both home wins. Yzerman had 2 goals
on the night, with Ron Francis, James Patrick and
Alexei Gusarov also scoring. Glenn Anderson
had 2 for the Leafs with Michale Thelven and Guy
Carbonneau also scoring. Game #3 is in Toronto
and it is certainly a must-win game for the Leafs.
