The Philadelphia Flyers have stolen
the first two games of the SMJ Cup series with two
dominating victories. After their Game #1 6-1
win, they backed it up with a 5-2 victory in Game #2
and take a 2-0 series lead. Detroit was never really
in this one, either. Eric Lindros started the
scoring midway through the opening period and by the
midway point of the 3rd period, it was 5-0 and all
but over. Detroit scored their meaningless
goals in the final 2 minutes of the game, only
spoiling Tom Barasso's shut out bid by doing so.
Denis Savard and Alexander Mogilny scored those two
goals. Lindros finished with 2 goals for the
Flyers and Doug Brown led all scorers with a goal
and 2 assists. Ken Linseman and Rod Brind'Amour
scored the other Philly goals. So, the series
now shifts to Philadelphia and the Detroit Red Wings
face a must-win situation. They have to find a
way to turn this around or they could find this
series over really quickly.
