Penguins Beat Nordiques. Finally Snap Winless Streak

This was one Pittsburgh definitely needed and they will need more of the same if they hope to have home ice advantage in the playoffs. Here's the game recap;

In the 1st period, the Penguins opened the scoring at 3:20 when Foligno scored his 12th of the season from Turgeon and Elynuik. At 5:53, the Nordiques answered and made it 1-1 when Bourque scored his 8th of the season from Gilchrist and Clark. Then, at 16:54, Sakic made it 2-1 Nordiques when he scored his 24th of the season from Richer and Smith. That Penguins entered the 2nd period trailing 2-1. 

In the 2nd period, the Penguins tied the game at 2:20 when Gonchar scored his 7th of the season from Foligno and Turgeon. Then, at 12:04, the Penguins took a 3-2 lead when Kypreos scored his 8th of the season with a powerplay goal from Amonte and Malakhov. The Penguins would take their 3-2 lead into the 3rd. 

In the 3rd period, the Penguins made it 4-2 at 2:09 as Jagr scored his 17th of the season from Keskinen and Zalapski. Burke would shut the door for the remainder of the game and the Penguins held on for a much needed 4-2 victory.  

Next up, the Penguins will have a day of rest before they play the Sabres in Pittsburgh.
