Penguins Out swim Sharks. Win 4th in a Row.

The Penguins needed to go on a heater if they wanted to salvage their season. So far, so good as they beat a formidable team from San Jose to cement their 4th win in row. Here's the game recap;

In the 1st period, the Sharks opened up the scoring at 5:27 when Courtnall scored his 13th of the season from Sakic and DuPont. The Penguins answered at 8:57 when Amonte scored his 9th of the season from Kovalev and Czerkawski to even things up 1-1. Then at 10:34 Jagr scored his 16th of the season from Elynuik and Malakhov to give the Penguins a 2-1 lead. The Penguins took their 2-1 lead into the 2nd period.

In the 2nd period, the Sharks tied the game 2-2 just 47 seconds into the period when Heinze scored his 2nd of the season from Sakic and Otto. Then, at 16:46, the Sharks took a 3-2 lead when Courtnall scored his 2nd of the game from Smith. Then just 41 seconds later Courtnall completed his hat trick from DuPont and Sakic to give the Sharks a 4-2 lead heading into the 3rd period.

In the 3rd period, the Penguins made it 4-3 at 8:26 when Zubov scored his 12th of the season from Kovalev and Finley. Then at 10:22 Pederson scored his 1st of the year for the Penguins completely unassisted to tie the game 4-4. That would be all of the scoring for the 3rd period and this one would need overtime.

In the extra frame, at 2:33, it was Jagr coming through for the Penguins, scoring his 2nd of the game from Elynuik and Zalapski, to seal the win.

Next up, the Penguins will be in tough at home against the Red Wings with Tererri starting in net, as Burke is getting a much deserved rest.
