Despite outshooting the Rangers 13-4, the Penguins would head into the 2nd period tied 1-1. In the 2nd period, the Penguins for their first lead of the game at 2:23 when Chris Joseph scored his 4th of the season from Keskinen and Jagr to make it 2-1. The Rangers would then tie it just 33 seconds later at 2:56 as Hall scored his 3rd of the season from Ray and Tamer. The Penguins would add one more for good measure at 16:02 when Miller scored his 2nd of the season on the powerplay with Leveille and Kovalev getting the assists.
