Penguins Beat Up on Lowly Rangers Again. .500 Through 15 Games

For the second time in recent memory, the Penguins beat the Rangers and managed to put up a touchdown while doing so. Let's recap;

In the 1st period, it was the Rangers who opened the scoring in the first minute of the game when Kozlov scored his 4th of the season at the 52 second mark with Korolev and McEachern earning the assists. But less than a minute later the Penguins would even things up at 1-1 when Tony Amonte continues his recent got play by scoring his 9th of the season at 1:26 with Kovalev and Leveille getting the assists. Despite outshooting the Rangers 13-4, the Penguins would head into the 2nd period tied 1-1. 

In the 2nd period, the Penguins for their first lead of the game at 2:23 when Chris Joseph scored his 4th of the season from Keskinen and Jagr to make it 2-1. The Rangers would then tie it just 33 seconds later at 2:56 as Hall scored his 3rd of the season from Ray and Tamer. Then later in the frame things would begin to heat up again as Amonte scored his 2nd of the game with a powerplay goal at 14:20 to make it 3-2. The Penguins then added to their lead with another powerplay goal at 16:36 when Kypreos scored his 5th of the season from Kovalev and Joseph to make it 4-2. Not to be outdone, the Rangers would make it 4-3 at 17:51 as Todd scored his 1st of the season, completely unassisted to have the Rangers enter the 3rd period down by only a goal. 

In the 3rd period, it was all Penguins. First at 2:04 Leveille scored his 3rd of the season with a powerplay goal from Zubov. Then at 8:21 Leveille scored his 4th of the season and 2nd of the game at 8:21 with Jim Kyte getting the assist. 6-2 Penguins. The Penguins would add one more for good measure at 16:02 when Miller scored his 2nd of the season on the powerplay with Leveille and Kovalev getting the assists. 

That would be the final goal in a 7-3 win for the Penguins. The Penguins will now have a day of rest before taking on the Boston Bruins.
