Penguins Tie Rangers in Finale. Sit in 6th in Wales

A win would've locked the Penguins into 6th place, however a tie wasn't the worst result either. Here's the game recap;

In the 1st period, the Penguins opened the scoring at 10:09 when Zubov scored his 16th of the season from Jagr and Donnelly to make it 1-0. Then at 10:59 the Rangers tied the game 1-1 when Curran scored his 11th of the season from Korolev and Lidstrom. The Penguins re-took the lead at 15:46 when Czerkawski scored his 6th of the season from Lumme and Turgeon. The Penguins entered the 2nd period leading 2-1.

In the 2nd period, the Rangers tied the game 2-2 at 01:04 when MacLean scored his 13th of the season from Ray and Bolduc. Both teams would be unable to find the back of the net for the rest of the period and were off to the 3rd tied 2-2.

The 3rd period, saw both teams exchange chances with the Penguins outshooting the Rangers 8-4. Neither team would be able to convert their opportunities and this one would need overtime.

In the final frame, neither team really mustered much offensively as their were only 3 shots between them. As a result, this one would end in a 2-2 tie.

Next up for the Penguins will be a couple of days rest before the playoffs get underway.
