Penguins Lose Nailbiter Against Canucks. Drop Back Below .500.

This one was back and forth and served as a good measuring stick for the Penguins against one of the league's best. Here's the game recap;

In the 1st period, the Penguins got on the board first at 8:06 when Amonte scored his 11th of the season with a powerplay goal from Elynuik to give the Penguins a 1-0 lead. That would be all the scoring for the 1st period.

In the 2nd period, the Canucks outshot the Penguins 8-3 in a period where neither team would find the back of the net. Off to the 3rd with the Penguins leading 1-0.

In the 3rd period, the Canucks tied the game 1-1 at 10:54 when Modano scored his 20th of the season from Naslund and Tikkanen. Then at 12:13 Kovalev made it 2-1 for the Penguins with a powerplay goal for his 11th of the season from Amonte and Kovalev. The Canucks again bounced back at 13:55 when Tikkanen scored his 18th of the season from Coffey and Tanti to make it 2-2. Then at 14:41 the Canucks made it 3-2 when Stevens scored his 5th of the season from Kurvers and Naslund.

3-2 would be the final in this one as the Canucks would hold on. Next up, the Penguins will have a couple of days of rest before they play the Bruins in Pittsburgh.
