Penguins Lose Game 2. Head Home With Series Even at 1-1.

The Penguins knew if they were going to win this series, it certainly wasn't coming by way of a sweep. The Penguins played better in Game 2 than they did in Game 1, but fell short this time. Here's the game recap;

In the 1st period, the teams battled back and forth but nobody was able to find the net. The Penguins, hoping to rebound from their dismal start in Game 1, actually outshot the Panthers in the frame 7-5. Off to the 2nd.

In the 2nd period, the Panthers opened the scoring at 2:33 when McClelland scored his 1st of the playoffs with a powerplay goal from Richer and Recchi. Then at 5:10 the Penguins tied the game 1-1 when Elynuik scored his 1st of the playoffs from Amonte and Malakhov. The teams would enter the 3rd period tied 1-1.

In the 3rd period, the Panthers would take a 2-1 lead at 4:11 when Recchi scored his 1st of the playoffs with a powerplay goal from Thelven and McClelland. Then, at 10:48, Recchi would score his 2nd of the game to make it 3-1. Richer and Boimistruck would get the assists.

Despite their best efforts, the Penguins would drop this one 3-1. Next up, the Penguins will try and regain the series lead at home in Pittsburgh with Sean Burke starting in goal.
