Penguins Lose To Panthers. Still Hold on To Final Playoff Spot.

The Penguins spotted the Panthers to a huge lead and couldn't get on the board until the last period. Here's the game recap;

In the 1st period, the Panthers opened the scoring at 9:12 when McClelland scored his 28th of the season from Recchi to make it 1-0. Then at 16:44 McClelland got his 2nd of the game with a powerplay goal from Hawerchuk and Recchi to make it 2-0. The Penguins entered the 2nd trailing 2-0.

In the 2nd period, the Panthers made it 3-0 at 11:11 when Bradley scored his 22nd of the season from Thelven and Murphy. Then at 13:06 Hawerchuk scored his 33rd of the season from Creighton and Messier to make it 4-0. The Penguins wouldn't be able to find an answer and entered the 3rd trailing 4-0.

In the 3rd period, the Penguins finally got a goal at 00:46 as Joseph scored his 7th of the season with an unassisted tally on the powerplay. Then at 13:25 the Penguins made it 4-2 when Amonte scored his 27th of the season from Kovalev and Kypreos. That would be as close as the Penguins would be able to get and 4-2 would be your final.

Next up, the Penguins will have a day of rest before playing the New York Rangers.
