Penguins Narrowly Defeat Rival Panthers. Burke Once Again Carries Penguins to Victory.
On one hand, the Penguins have to be happy about picking up the win. On the other, they can't be happy that Sean Burke is being asked to do as much as he is, and that could be why he lost it. Here's the game recap;
In the 1st period, the Penguins opened the scoring at 4:05 when Zubov scored his 13th of the season from Lafontaine and Zalapski. That would be the lone goal in a period that day the shots fairly even at 13-13 for the Panthers. The Penguins would carry that 1-0 lead into the 2nd.
In the 2nd period, the Panthers would tie the game 1-1 at 15:57 when Redmond scored his 10th of the season from Hodge and Andersson. The Panthers would again outshoot the 10-8 and the teams entered the 3rd tied 1-1.
In the 3rd period, a scuffle ensued and Burke found himself quickly ejected for roughing at 1:21. At 12:33, Roberts scored his 15th of the season and gave the Penguins the 2-1 lead.
2-1 would be the final despite the Penguins being outshot 34-26. Next up, the Penguins will play the Hartford Whalers in Hartford with former Whaler Randford getting the start. |
