Flyers beat Oilers in a close one  

Last night's game between the Philadelphia Flyers and Edmonton Oilers was an intense and physical battle. In the end, the Flyers came out on top with a 3-2 victory.  Flyers goalie Bob Froese was instrumental in the win, making 27 saves on 29 shots, while the Oilers' Patrick Roy made 21 saves on 24 shots in a losing effort.

Period one began with the Flyers taking the early lead, with Brian Propp scoring the first goal of the game at the 3:01 mark with assists from Ken Linseman and Ville Siren.  however, the Oilers quickly responded with a goal from Shtepa at the 5:23 mark with assists from John Ogrodnick and Phil Housley.  The Oilers took the lead with a goal from Doug Weight at the !3"30 mark with assists from Ray sheppard and Alexei Gusarov.  The period saw tow minor penalties from each team, with the Oilers' Weight getting called for unsportsmanlike conduct and Jeff Brown getting called for roughing.

Period two was dominated by the Flyers, who scored two unanswered goals to take the lead.  Pierre Turgeon scored at the 5:12 mark, assisted by no one, and Michel Goulet scored at the 10:07 mark, also unassisted.  The period saw a flurry of penalties, with the Flyers' Michal Pivonka  and the Oilers' Freddie Olausson each receiving minor penalties.

Period three was a scoreless affair, with neither team able to capitalize on their chances. However, the period saw a number of penalties, with the Flyers' Michel Goulet, Brian Propp, David Shaw, and Ville Siren all receiving inor penalties, and Shaw receiving a game misconduct.  The Oilers' Alexei Gusarov and Ray Sheppard also received minor penalties, with Sheppard receiving a misconduct penalty.

On special teams, both teams were unable to convert on their five power play opportunities.  The game's three stars were Bob Froese, Michel Goulet and Brian Propp, all Flyers.

Overall, it was an exciting and physical game between two talented teams. The Flyers were able to come away with the win thanks to their strong play in the second period and the outstanding performance of Bob Froese in goal.  The Oilers will be looking to bounce back in their next game, while the Flyers will look to build on their success in this game.
