Early Trade Rumors

Although it has been very quiet in Ranger land during the 1st round of the playoffs, a slight rumbling has begun. Will that small rumble turn into more or will it just go away? Time will tell. Word on the street is that the Rangers are looking to move Tim Thomas and the 9th overall pick in an effort to move up in the draft. Will any of the teams at the top bite? Who knows, but this type of package really only makes sense if the Rangers are getting a top 2 pick in return. Thomas is poised to be a franchise goaltender. The problem is that the Rangers acquired Olaf Kolzig this year and he will only be 26 next season. Kolzig looks like the real deal and could potentially be the starter in New York for the next decade. The Rangers could keep Thomas and have two amazing goalies, but it probably makes more sense if they can move him for other pieces to help build deep roster.
