Trade Deadline Deal #2
The
second trade the New York Rangers made over this past
weekend was much smaller when compared to the Olaf Kolzig
deal. This trade saw the Rangers send Joel Kwiatkowski, FLA
2nd in 1997, and $250,000 to the St. Louis Blues
in exchange for Rick Tocchet. For a team that is revamping
and not completely rebuilding, this might seem like a
questionable move given Tocchet’s age. He will be 32 next
season but is still an offensive force to be reckoned with.
If the Rangers are able to resign Tocchet, he will be a huge
help to this club that has had the worst scoring offense in
the NFHL this season. The Rangers are said to be doing
whatever they can to extend Tocchet before the trade
deadline. |
