STATEMENT GAMES It was but a short few days ago the talk was all on, what seemed to be, an inevitable double sweep in back to back finals. Well, the past is the past. The Devils kept it close in the first 2 games, and flipped the script on close games on home ice with a 2-1 win on home ice. Game 4 was a whole different ball… puck game. The Devils found a way to exploit specials teams with a 1 of 1 powerplay, and 2 shorties. Not to mention the all world defense of the Jets were managed, and more. Now its a best of 3 series, and the trauma of last year's sweep is in the rear view mirror. Some pundits have commented that talk of the Campbell finals was the “real” final may have been exactly what the Devils and Terry O'Reilly needed to get fired up and turn the page. So kudos to that! |
