The Philadelphia Flyers control their own destiny in the battle for home ice advantage to start the playoffs. Tonight, they escaped with a 4-3 win in their latest installment of the Battle of Pennsylvania to hit 91 points on the season and open up a 3 point lead on the Florida Panthers for 4th in the Wales Conference. Both teams have 3 games left. The Penguins, with their 2nd straight loss, remain at 86 points, tied with Montreal for 6th in the conference. However, they have just a single game left this season and will need a lot of help to finish anywhere but 7th and a 1st round match with the #2 seed team, likely the New Jersey Devils. In the game itself, John LeClair and Rod Brind'Amour each had a goal and assist with Rob Brown and Mats Naslund also scoring goals. Pat Elynuik and Gary Roberts each had a goal and assist themselves for the Penguins with Jaromir Jagr also scoring. |
