Bruins Clinch Home Ice; Sabres Set Futility Records

We still don't know all of the Wales Conference matchups, but we do know two of them now. The Boston Bruins claimed the final spot in the top four with another big win over the Buffalo Sabres. Ziggy Palffy continued his strong late-season play, recording a hat trick, while Troy Murray had 2 goals and 3 assists in Boston's 9-3 win. Jim Peplinski had 2 goals and an assist, Rob Blake had a goal and 2 assists, and Owen Nolan rounded out the scoring with a solo goal. Eric Lecompte, Paul Gillis and Paul Reinhart scored for Buffalo. The win gives Boston 93 points, one more than Florida, who the Bruins will host in the 1st round. Boston still has one game to play. This also means the Toronto Maple Leafs gets 6th spot and will head to Philly to play the Flyers in the first round. The game also mercifully ends Buffalo's season. In 80 games, they managed just 10 wins and 21 points. The 10 wins are the fewest in league history. The 21 points are by far the fewest in league history. What a season!
