North Stars Being Reeled Back In
|
The Minnesota North Stars opened up a bit of a lead atop the Campbell Conference thanks to their 8-game winning streak. They had as much as a 6-point lead at one point, but, thanks to tonight's 6-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets, they perilously cling to a 2-point lead. All but one goal was scored in a frenetic first period, with the Winnipeg goals coming from Brendan Shanahan, Jamie Huscroft, Dave Ellett, Ed Olczyk and Jari Kurri. Dino Ciccarelli scored the lone goal after 20 minutes, a 2nd period marker. Dave Ellett led the way with a goal and 2 assists. Daniel Alfredsson scored both Minnesota goals. The Vancouver Canucks, who have won 2 in a row, are closing in on the North Stars, while the Jets are 5th in the conference, but just 4 points back of Minny.
