The NFHL Game of the Day

Jets Claim Campbell Conference!

The battle for the Campbell Conference was decided tonight as the Winnipeg Jets hosted the Colorado Rockies. Kirk Muller scored twice and Gerard Gallant had a goal and assist to lead Winnipeg to a 4-1 win and their 3rd conference championship in franchise history, following victories in 1980 and 1982.  It also breaks Colorado's 5-year run as conference champion. Brendan Shanahan scored the other Winnipeg goal.  Mathieu Schneider was the only Rockie to beat Allan Bester.  With this result, almost the entire Campbell Conference first round match ups are set.  The one match not set is who the Jets will play in the first round, either the St. Louis Blues or San Jose Sharks.  Tonight, the Blues edged the Sharks 2-1 to close out their season with a 2-point lead on the Sharks, but they will have to wait for San Jose to finish their final 2 games.  The Sharks just need to win one of those games to get 8th.  Colorado will now get the tough task of taking on the Columbus Blue Jackets, Minnesota will host Edmonton and Vancouver will play Detroit.
