The Panthers came out tonight in New Jersey and once again beat down the Devils. If these two teams somehow meet in the playoffs, New Jersey has to be concerned. With this current Florida lineup, they have won all 3 games against the Devils by scores of 7-1, 5-3 and tonight a victory of 5-1.

In the first period, the Devils tried to push the pace but Patrick Roy stood tall, turning away all 14 shots. Meanwhile Messier was able to score his 29th of the season with just over a minute left in the first.

Knowing how the last 2 games against each other played out, New Jersey came out even stronger in the second. This time they would fire 15 shots on net. They did get the game tied, but just over 2 minutes later around the nine minute mark, Creighton scored his 9th of the season to put the Panthers back up 2-1.

They would go to the 3rd period and the pressure on the Devils Defense was just too much. Thelven scored his 14th of the year, first as a Panther at 6:23. Just 2 minutes after Richer netted his 28th. The continued cycle game would continue until Folignoo scored his 18th at 17:14. The Devils were unable to be Roy in the 3rd and the final score was again, 5-1 for the Panthers.

Patrick Roy took home the win with 36 saves moving his record to 28-19-8 on the season.

Special teams was a draw as the PP and PK both were 0-4.

1st Star - Patrick Roy - 36 saves on 37 shots

2nd Star - Michael Thelven - 1 goal, 3 points, +2, 3 shots, 3 hits

3rd Star - Stephane Richer - 1 goal, 2 points, +2, 5 shots

What a great game tonight by Johan Hedberg with the 1-0 shut out against Albany. Jason York (13) was the lone goal scorer on the night. The win has propelled Houston into top spot in the Wales with a game in hand over Laval.
