After a disappointing opening loss of 2-1 to Pittsburgh, the Panthers looked to even the series back up, and that is what they did with a 3-1 victory.

Sean Burke was once again solid, but the Panthers would finally solve him, somewhat.

The first period was a blank, as both these teams continue to excel at playoff hockey. The shots were only 7-5 for Pittsburgh but Roy and Burke accepted the challenge.

The 2nd period would see the Panthers get the lead with McClelland scoring his 1st on the PP. However less than 3 minutes later the Pens would tie the game back up on their only PP.

So with both teams tied at 1 going into the 3rd, the Panthers stepped up their game. Recchi would score his 1st on the PP at the 4 minute mark, and while Pitt kept pushing, they could not get one past Roy. Recchi would later add another which would be the backbreaker it seemed. From there the teams went back and forth but without any more goal scoring. The series now tied 1-1 heading back to Pittsburgh.

Patrick Roy got the win with 24 saves on 25 shots.

1st Star - Mark Recchi - 2 goals, 3 points, +1, 7 shots, 3 hits

2nd Star - Patrick Roy - 24 save win

3rd Star - Kevin McClelland - 1 goal, 2 points, +1, 3 shots, 3 hits

Up next will be the 3rd game in Pittsburgh. The Panthers will need to come out flying to get home ice back. Also to see if they can get their 5x5 going. So far they have 4 goals, and 3 are PP goals.
