Flames win streak ends in road game in Connecticut
After beating the likes of Boston, Edmonton and powerhouse Toronto, would it be that unbelievable to beat last year`s Stanley Cup champs, the Whalers? The short answer would be, yes
The Flames were outnumbered, outdrawn, outclassed and outgunned. In an incredible show of complete dominance, the Whalers were up 4-0 by the end of the 1st period. To make matters worse, all four of the goals were played 5 on 5 as the 1st period was extremely clean with only 1 penalty called.
The 2nd period was rather uneventful unless you consider the 16 shots Roloson faced something to cheer about. The Whalers would score one in 2nd as well for a 5-0 lead.
Kastelic would play the spoilsport in Beaupre's quest for a shutout with his 20th of the season but that wouldn't really matter as the Whalers would score again and seal the deal with a 6-1 win.
The Flames hope to bounce back in a few days as they continue their road trip and head into Philadelphia, one of the few teams they have beaten this season.
