Special teams special for Bruins

The hot and cold Boston Bruins were hot again last night, especially on the powerplay. With the St. Louis Blues in town, the Bs needed to get back in the win column and they did, in a special teams led 5-2 victory.

The Bruins opened the scoring with the man advantage 4 minutes in, with Sean McKenna making good on a setup from Blake and Fleury. The Bruins were rolling in the period but Shawn McEachern beat Brian Hayward to tie it up at the end of the period.

Mikko Makela scored 3 minutes into the second to give the Blues the lead. Theo Fleury scored on the PP to tie it up once again. St. Louis did themselves no favours, taking two major penalties to really turn the tide in this game.

In the third the PP struck again, with Owen Nolan, Ziggy Palffy and Jim Peplinski all scoring to make it a 5-2 final. All five of the Bruins goals were scored on the powerplay.

"Our powerplay was really clicking tonight," said coach Guevremont. "We really need to get it on track because we could have used it numerous times this season in losses."

St Louis' discipline issues really did them in on this night, especially when Boston's man an advantage was really clicking.

The New York Rangers are next up, another must win game in the quest to take over the Adams Division lead.

THE SANDWICH REPORT:

The Sandwich Bruins hosted Kansas City and surprisingly crushed them 24-2. Martin Straka and John Lilley had 4 and a bunch of other players had 2. Andrei Trefilov got the win in the best game that Sandwich has played all season.
