In a game that would determine whether Finland would move on to the medal round, the Canadians came out hard, scoring the first three goals of the game. The Finns responded, trailing 3-2 heading to the final period, and 4-3 for the last half of the period, but couldn't close the gap and once again will not move on to the medal round.

Quebec | 5 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Both teams knew they were making the medal round, yet wouldn't be able to take the top seed. So this was just a battle for the 2nd and 3rd. And Quebec will move on with the 2nd seed in Pool B with a fairly convincing win over Team Sweden. Quebec scored 3 straight goals over the second and third periods to run away with the game. Perhaps more importantly for future games, their superstars, Guy Lafleur, Mario Tremblay, and Michel Goulet, finally got on the score board and may be finding their legs just in time.
